Join us in the United Kingdom in 2023 as we experience old favorites and a new opera company. First, we travel to Sussex to visit the Glyndebourne Opera Festival. There, we will see L’elisir d’amore and Don Giovanni. We will also take a day trip down to the seaside resort of Brighton to visit The Royal Pavilion, a distinctive Asian-style palace built for King George IV, all while staying in the crisp, deluxe 5-STAR Grand Hotel Eastbourne.
After our three days in Eastbourne, Sussex, we travel to London, where we will stay at the 5-STAR Hotel May Fair. During our stay in London, we will see operas at: The Royal Opera House-Covent Garden, including Werther (featuring Jonas Kaufmann) and Il Trovatore (featuring Gregory Kunde); travel to The Garsington Festival to see Ariadne auf Naxos and Mozart’s Mitridate, re di ponto; and enjoy Rigoletto in our first ever visit to Opera Holland Park. While in London, we will have tours of Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Shakespeare’s Old Globe, and Tate Museums. We will also enjoy a dinner at Sarastro’s Restaurant, which boasts opera-singing waiters and offer the option of going to see a West End Musical (TBD).
